The list of documents needed for a PCD franchise is short, but every item on it matters. Without them no genuine company can supply you.
The two that are essential
1. Drug Licence
This is the important one. You need a wholesale drug licence, issued by the Drug Control Department of your state.
- It carries the licence number, the address and the validity
- It is a legal requirement for Schedule H and H1 products
- If a company is willing to supply without a drug licence, walk away immediately
2. GST Registration
Billing is not possible without a GSTIN. This usually comes through quickly.
What you will need along the way
- PAN card - of the firm or the individual
- Aadhaar or ID proof - of the proprietor
- Bank details - a cancelled cheque, for payments
- Address proof - for the godown or office
- Firm registration - if you are a partnership or a company
About trademarks
In PCD you do not need a trademark - the products carry the company's brand, not yours. A trademark becomes necessary when you build your own brand, which means third party manufacturing. The two are entirely different things.
What to ask the company for
Documents do not only flow one way. Ask the company for:
- WHO-GMP certificate - the actual copy
- Drug licence of the manufacturing unit
- Product list with compositions and net rates
- Monopoly agreement on letterhead
- Certificate of Analysis - it should come with every batch
How long it takes
